Dutch Apple Pie in a Dutch Oven
6 apples, peeled cored and sliced
1 T lemon juice
3/4 c sugar (I thought this was too much sugar, next time I will reduce to 1/2 c)
2 T flour
1/2 t cinnamon
1/2 t nutmeg
dash of salt
one pie crust
for topping:
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. flour
3 T butter
Preheat oven to 375. Mix apples with lemon juice, sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Line a small greased dutch oven with the pie crust. Fill with apple mixture. In a small bowl mix brown sugar and flour. Cut in the butter until small crumbles. Sprinkle the topping over the apples. Fold the edges of the pie crust over so they cover the topping slightly. Bake covered for 40 minutes. Remove lid and bake another 20 minutes until the top is slightly crisp and the sauce is bubbly. Let it cool and enjoy.
